Anything but off the shelf
A new store at DRYKORN is not just a new store. Our Retail Store Development Team takes their assignment more than seriously – they research, question, and dig deeper than they probably need to. The result just opened in Düsseldorf, and we couldn't be more proud.
Local Craftsmanship
Our headquarters in Kitzingen are located in a former rug-making facility. The rugmaker themself moved to a neighboring town years ago and now produces the very woolen rugs that line our fitting rooms – made in Hungary, Morocco, and Nepal. The curtains are made from our own deadstock fabric, sewn in-house.
The store furniture is made in Rottendorf, less than 15 km from our HQ: sculptural tables with polished, off-white Italian marble pebbles, clothing racks in brushed stainless steel – deliberately not chrome, because chrome plating has significant negative environmental effects.
Wooden elements are made from German oak, everything is handcrafted in Germany using safe paints and adhesives, with fair pay for the people who built it.
What else?
The clothing hangers are made from uncoated rubberwood – which after careful consideration was deemed the most sensible option, economically and environmentally. No coating means: if one breaks, it can easily be disposed of or even recycled.
The display figures come from a manufacturer in Nuremberg who operates their own ISO-certified production facilities in China. The LED signs are made in Germany.
And then there are the flowers – artificial ones, to be clear. We swap them out once, maybe twice a year, instead of twice a week. The reason is simple: less effort but also a better environmental impact over the long run.1,2
Lastly, as with all DRYKORN sites, we run the store on green energy.
One size fits all
The store concept is modular – developed alongside industry professionals and a set designer known for artistic installations. It works just as well in our own flagship as in shop-in-shop spaces at partner locations, creating spaces that genuinely invite you in – to a shopping experience that sticks.
