It's time…

No matter how carefully you look after your clothes and how long they have been with you, one day the time will come when you have to say your goodbyes to them.

Recycling or Resale

Have you already checked all the options before you want to recycle your favorite product? If your product has a fault, you may be able to fix it yourself with the help of our Repair Guide. If you are sure that you want to part ways with a piece of clothing that is still usable, you can easily resell DRYKORN items using the tips in our Resale Guide or simply give them away to family or friends.

Donate

If reselling your clothes is not for you, you can donate them. What happens to the pieces afterwards depends on the organization, ask them directly what they do with what they collect. You can find charitable collection organizations via FairWertung.

Garments not garbage

Don't throw your old clothes in the household waste. Textiles have to be collected separately – and depending on the condition of your piece, there are three routes: resale, donation, or a textile collection point for recycling.* Which one fits, you'll find below.

Send us your old DRYKORN pieces

When a DRYKORN piece is beyond repair, beyond resale and beyond donation, it still holds fibres. Send it back to us (see address below) and we will pass it on to our partner TURNS® circular system, who will find the best way for the old garment. Depending on the fiber blend & condition of the garment, this can mean fibre-to-fibre recycling but it can also mean incineration due to unusability, which is no recycling stream.

Why textile recycling is hard
Most garments are fibre blends, and blends are difficult to separate. Sorting is still largely manual work, and the technology that recovers fibres at industrial scale only accepts part of what it receives. This is why a collected garment does not automatically become a new garment.

*Exceptions:
If your textiles are heavily soiled with paint or chemicals, they can only be disposed of in household waste. Special clothing such as fire or chemical resistant clothing is often lined with toxic substances and must be disposed of as hazardous waste. Contact your local recycling facility in this case.

What we collect, and what happens to it

We have been collecting fabric swatches, irreparable returns and other textile offcuts for recycling through TURNS® since mid-2023. In the 2024/2025 financial year, this amounted to around 1.9 tonnes.
The 2024 figures show what happens to the material. Of 1,837 kg of textile waste collected, 234 kg went into fibre-to-fibre recycling for use in garments. 829 kg was downcycled for industrial use. The remaining 774 kg was disposed of as residual waste after being used to train an AI-based fibre identification software.
So we cannot promise you that your piece will become a new garment, and we cannot promise that nothing will be incinerated. What we can tell you is which of the three routes exist and how much went down each one last year.

Where these numbers come from

The figures above cover swatches and irreparable returns from our own operations. Pieces you send in go into the same stream at TURNS® and through the same sorting, but we do not yet report them separately. We want to be able to tell you next year how much came back from you and what became of it.

How to send us a DRYKORN piece for recycling:

  1. Pack the garment in an envelope or a box and pay the postage. We are not able to reimburse shipping costs for this.
  2. Add a note saying “Rücknahmesystem”.
  3. Send the parcel to our address.
